This is your opportunity. The Legislative fiscal office has laid out some choices for raising some taxes and cutting some taxes and what the expected impact might be on the state budget.
The Governor is proposing to spend a record $49 billion in fiscal 2007-2009. It includes a record $15 billion for the general fund.
The Oregon Department of Justice is currently considering increasing its "take" from state-approved charitable gambling to cover increased expenses. Fees from licensing gambling and permitting charitable gambling go to Justice, not to the General Fund, a fact known to very few legislators.
